One person was killed when freight train cars derailed in Leningrad region
The driver was killed in a freight train derailment in the Leningrad region. This was announced on September 14 by the governor of the region, Alexander Drozdenko.
"Verification actions are being carried out and restoration work is being organized in connection with the derailment of a single diesel locomotive near the Semrino station in the Gatchina district of the Leningrad Region. The train driver died — he was trapped in the cabin, after unblocking he died in an ambulance," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
It is noted that the work of law enforcement agencies in the region will be strengthened to ensure security on all types of transport. The authorities will also send additional forces to restore train traffic in both directions as soon as possible.
