In 2025, 1,616 veterans of the special military operation (SVO) will take part in elections at various levels, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia Ella Pamfilova said on September 12.
"In 2025, 1,616 candidates participating in a special military operation were nominated for elections at all levels," Pamfilova said.
She added that two of these CBO participants are applying for senior positions. Pamfilova noted that the participants of the SVO are "a new galaxy of politicians and public figures."
A single voting day, which will be held from September 12 to 14, 2025, will cover 81 regions, where more than five thousand election campaigns will be held. As part of the elections, it is planned to replace about 47,000 mandates and positions, and about 55 million people will be able to vote.
Remote electronic voting will be available in 24 regions. At the moment, more than 1.6 million people have expressed a desire to use the federal online voting platform.
On the same day, Pamfilova announced that 90 polling stations in Russia were named after the participants of her campaign. According to her, a new automated system "Elections" was also launched in the country, designed to automate electoral activities from planning the preparation of the event to processing the results.
