The Polish authorities plan to deploy 40,000 soldiers to the border with Russia and Belarus in the coming days. This was announced on September 11 by the deputy head of the country's Defense Ministry, Cesary Tomchik.

According to him, this decision was made in response to the start of the Russian-Belarusian military exercises Zapad-2025, which will start in Belarus on September 12.

Tomczyk said that Poland had been preparing for the Zapad-2025 exercises for several months, while the Polish armed forces conducted exercises with the participation of more than 30 thousand people.

"Polish and NATO soldiers are needed for an adequate response to the Zapad-2025 exercises <...> In the coming days, about 40 thousand of our soldiers will be on the border," the Anadolu Agency quoted him as saying.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Poland had restricted traffic along the border with Belarus and Ukraine. Such measures have entered into force and will remain in effect until December 9 of this year.

On September 10, Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov called the decision of the Polish authorities to close the border with the republic during the Belarusian-Russian Zapad-2025 exercises anti-popular. According to him, such actions undermine the international image and show the true face of the Polish authorities.
