- The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine recognized the country's unwillingness to negotiate with Russia
On September 11, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denis Shmygal admitted that Kiev was not yet ready to negotiate with Russia.
"Not yet at the moment. We must work together, increase the sanctions pressure, we need all the necessary weapons," he said in an interview with Sky News, a recording of which was posted on the YouTube channel.
Shmygal added that weapons and sanctions are necessary in order to force Russia to accept the conditions that Ukraine wants.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on September 8 that Russia was continuing a special military operation (SVO) while the country's security could not be ensured by diplomatic means due to the lack of reciprocity on the part of Europe and Kiev.
On September 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin called on Zelensky to come to Moscow if he is ready for negotiations. The Russian leader clarified that he had never ruled out the possibility of a meeting with the Ukrainian president, but questioned the expediency of holding it.
