British Prime Minister Keir Starmer dismissed Peter Mandelson from the post of British Ambassador to the United States because of his ties with financier Jeffrey Epstein. This was reported on September 11 by Sky News, citing a statement by British Foreign Minister Stephen Doughty.

"In light of additional information about the emails written by Peter Mandelson [to Epstein], the Prime Minister has asked the Foreign Minister to recall him (Mandelson. - Ed.) from the post of ambassador to the United States," the article says.

According to Doughty, the emails show that the depth and extent of his relationship with Epstein are significantly different from those that were known at the time of his appointment. He added that one of the key turning points in the dismissal was Mandelson's assumption that Epstein's first sentence was unlawful.

Mandelson denies all charges and claims that he committed no wrongdoing, Sky News notes.

On July 19, US President Donald Trump asked the Department of Justice to release all available evidence from the jury in the Epstein case. However, later, on July 23, the Florida court rejected this request, in connection with which Trump expressed his dissatisfaction on July 28. The American president was annoyed by the mistakes made by the White House in this matter.

On July 30, the United States learned that the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice have an allegedly missing minute from surveillance footage that was recorded on the night of Epstein's death in prison. It was clarified that the 11-hour recording, previously released this month, proves that no one came to the convict's cell on the night of August 10, 2019 — according to preliminary data, he committed suicide.

On the evening of September 3, a video was posted with the missing minute related to Epstein's death. The New York Post commented on the footage, noting that nothing happened during the missing minute recorded outside the prison block.
