The Interior Ministry told about a new phone fraud scheme
Phone scammers use new schemes, posing as lawyers and convincing their victims to buy expensive smartphones. This was reported on September 10 in the materials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to information reviewed by RIA Novosti, the criminals inform the victim that money was allegedly transferred from her bank account to Ukraine. Then a false lawyer contacts the victim, who convinces him to purchase a modern smartphone and go to the address to receive securities and money.
The Interior Ministry reminds that real law enforcement officers or lawyers will not ask citizens to buy equipment or visit unfamiliar places to resolve their issues.
Earlier, on September 9, it was reported that telephone fraudsters began to act in accordance with a new scheme to deceive Russians — they urge them to buy jewelry with all the funds available to citizens, and then give them to the courier. Thus, malefactors, posing as law enforcement officers in a telephone conversation, under various pretexts, including about "saving" money, convince victims to purchase expensive jewelry.
