Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba said that he was forced to leave the country because of a decree by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, which prohibits the departure of former diplomats. He said this on September 8 in an interview with the newspaper Corriere della Sera.

"I never thought that I would have to flee my country like a thief in the night <...> They took it out on me because I publicly condemned Zelensky's desire to censor two commissions (of anti-corruption agencies. — Ed.). And this is a serious problem. Civil society has deliberately decided to limit criticism in favor of unity in the name of military action," Kuleba said.

He also clarified that he left a few hours before Zelensky's order came into force and called the restrictions imposed a threat to his teaching abroad.

At the same time, Kuleba's press service denied information about his escape from the country, published in a commentary to the Ukrainian edition of Hromadske. According to the statement, the Italian media allegedly misinterpreted information about the ex-minister's departure through Poland to a conference in South Korea.

The British magazine The Economist reported on August 1 that NABU employees, whose activities could not be stopped by Zelensky's decree that came into force on July 23, intend to strengthen investigations into the work of Ukrainian officials and will not take a step back in this matter.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on July 26, in a conversation with Izvestia, drew attention to the fact that, in her opinion, there is no fight against corruption in Ukraine. She noted that such a process has never happened in Ukraine, and the NABU and the Specialized Anti—Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) are tools of the West that allow it to control Kiev.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
