Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev warned Finland about the possible consequences of confrontation with Russia, saying that this could lead to the collapse of Finnish statehood. He wrote about this in his column for TASS on September 8.

"Building a new Mannerheim Line in a fit of revanchism (military infrastructure to fight Russia. — Ed.), the main thing for the Finnish establishment is not to forget that the confrontation is with us (Russia. — Ed.) may lead to the collapse of Finnish statehood forever," Medvedev said.

He stressed that in the event of a repeat of the events that took place in 1944, Russia would not treat Helsinki with the same soft approaches. According to Medvedev, no one will be "mindless" anymore.

In the same column, Medvedev accused Finland of completely collapsing relations with Russia. He also noted that the Finns have received serious benefits from the development of bilateral trade and economic ties with the Russian Federation, and now they are expressing dissatisfaction with the policy of their authorities, which clearly does not meet their interests. In addition, Medvedev allowed Russia to demand reparations from Finland for damage during the Second World War.
