Zakharova pointed to Europe's omission of its own continent
Europe was unable to save its continent and lost control of the situation. This was stated on September 6 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF-2025).
"They have practically nullified the talk about democracy, which only they know how to develop, because they have failed to preserve Europe. That is, they have blown their own continent," the diplomat said in an interview with TASS.
She added that now the peoples of other continents, such as Asia, Africa and Latin America, are telling Western Europeans how the situation on their continent could be resolved. Zakharova called it an "absolute fiasco" for countries that consider themselves exceptional. In her opinion, Europe has fallen into economic decline and caused tragic events on its continent, while continuing to teach other countries how to live.
Presidential Adviser Anton Kobyakov, at the final briefing of the WEF-2025 on September 6, stressed that today Europe does not show its sovereignty, which is why Russia is "correctly moving the pieces" in this party. According to him, the big geopolitical game that the West has started is entering a crucial stage.
On September 4, Zakharova commented on Finnish President Alexander Stubb's remarks about the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and suggested that the negative reaction of the head of state was caused by the loss of sovereignty by his country. According to her, at the moment Finland can only "endure the consequences of the loss of sovereignty."
Earlier, on September 2, Stubb expressed fears that the West might give in to the SCO countries if it did not establish more effective cooperation with the Global South. At that time, the Finnish president noted that he did not support the multipolarity approach, but advocated "multilateralism" in international politics.
