The Interior Ministry warned about a new fraud scheme involving the installation of messengers

Scammers have begun using a new stage in crime schemes, requiring victims to install messengers to "ensure security" or "convenience." This was announced on September 4 in the press service of the Department for the organization of combating the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

"Now, under any pretext ("security", "convenience", "efficiency" or "secrecy"), they demand to switch to, and more often install, any messenger with good communication quality," the department's Telegram channel says.

They clarified that such actions are not part of the usual communication with official structures, since employees of companies, law enforcement agencies or other organizations do not require the transfer of communication to messengers.
