The plane carrying the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, was without a functioning GPS system when it tried to land at Plovdiv airport in Bulgaria on August 31. This was reported on September 1 by the Financial Times newspaper, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, the aircraft's navigation systems failed, and the crew had to land using paper maps. The publication indicates that a Russian interference attack was allegedly responsible for the incident, which disrupted GPS operation at the Bulgarian airport.
