Nine out of ten Russians are proud of the country's history, culture, and natural resources. Such data is contained in a study by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM), published on September 1 on the center's website.
According to the survey, 61% of Russian citizens noted that their sense of pride in the country has increased over the past year. Russians cite the achievements and wealth of the country (49%), as well as the people and their qualities (39%) as the main reasons for the growth of pride.
Valery Fedorov, Director General of VTsIOM, noted that a new surge of national pride is associated with support for an independent foreign policy, the struggle for sovereignty and against the aggressive policies of the West. He stressed that the pride of Russians now encompasses not only foreign policy and military power, but also historical memory, natural resources, scientific achievements and national qualities of the people.
The survey was conducted among 1.6 thousand Russians over the age of 18, the margin of error does not exceed 2.5%.
On August 22, it was reported that, according to the results of a sociological survey, 72% of Russians feel proud when publicly displaying the national flag. It is clarified that 67% of respondents consider the Day of the National Flag of Russia to be significant, and the perception of its importance has not changed over the past year. At the same time, the majority of respondents correctly indicated that the tricolor was adopted during the period of the Russian Empire, and 25% associate it with the current state of Russia.
