Zakharova called Uzbekistan an ally of Russia and a sovereign state
Uzbekistan is a sovereign state and an ally of Russia. This was stated on August 29 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the statements of the President of the Republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev about Kiev and Baku.
Earlier, Mirziyoyev praised his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev for his policy. Mr. Mirziyoyev also congratulated President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the Independence Day of Ukraine, to which he thanked for the support of Kiev.
"I want to remind you that the Republic of Uzbekistan is a sovereign state. It independently determines and conducts its foreign policy. It is aimed, among other things, at the worldwide strengthening and development of good-neighborly and constructive ties with near and far neighbors. Russian-Uzbek relations have the status and character of a comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance. Traditionally, they carry away a friendly, and therefore beneficial, character and develop on the principles of equality and mutual consideration of interests. Comprehensive work continues to expand trade, economic and investment ties between our countries," the diplomat said during a briefing.
