On August 29, Svetlana Bezrodnaya, People's Artist of Russia and founder of the Vivaldi Orchestra, told Izvestia about the importance of composer Rodion Shchedrin for world musical culture.

According to her, Rodion Konstantinovich was a real colossus of the era, and his departure cannot be perceived as final, since his music and creative legacy are eternal.

"Another Colossus of the great era is gone. It's hard to speak, it's hard to comprehend. But this withdrawal is not really withdrawal. Rodion Konstantinovich was already in eternity during his lifetime. Because his music is eternal, the horizon he approached a long time ago, in the prime of his powers, is eternal," Bezrodnaya said.

The artist also recalled her collaboration with Shchedrin: 30 years ago, the Vivaldi Orchestra performed his Carmen Suite after the composer's approval. The concert premiere took place in 1995 at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall. Bezrodnaya expressed the hope that Shchedrin's music will live forever, just like the composer himself.

The death of the composer at the age of 93 became known earlier on the same day. The press service of the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia noted that Shchedrin is an epoch in the life of world musical culture. His works have been performed on all stages of the world for many decades.

Oksana Karnovich, the head of the Maya Plisetskaya Museum, emphasized in an interview with Izvestia on the same day that Shchedrin's death was an irreparable loss in world culture.
