The Russian Embassy in Belgium has condemned Benelux's plans to supply weapons to Kiev.

The foreign ministers of the Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg) intend to continue supplying Ukraine with lethal weapons, including F-16 fighter jets, amid efforts by Russia and the United States to resolve the conflict. The Russian Embassy in Belgium announced this on August 27.

"In defiance of the peace efforts currently being undertaken with the active assistance of the administration of [American leader] Donald Trump, Belgium and its partners are going to continue pumping lethal weapons into the Kiev regime, including those announced by [the Belgian Foreign Minister] Maxim Prevost supplies the first F-16 fighters," the message on the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission says.

In addition, the Russian Embassy stressed that the Belgian authorities continue to seek Ukraine's involvement in NATO and the European Union (EU), while ignoring Russia's security interests. The diplomats also expressed concern about the possible deployment of Belgian armed forces on Ukrainian territory.

"It is regrettable that the Belgian leadership is rapidly drifting towards the most Russophobic and hawkish camp among the NATO and EU member states, finally driving Russian-Belgian relations into a dead end," the statement said.

In conclusion, the diplomats stressed that such a policy does not meet the interests of the Belgian population, who will be forced to pay with their well-being for the "political adventurism" of the leadership.
