US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff said on August 26 that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

"That's right," Witkoff replied to a question during an interview with Fox News.

In addition, the special Envoy noted that the settlement of the conflict is a complex process. The diplomat also expressed the opinion that Trump's participation may be necessary at the negotiating table between Putin and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.

On August 24, US Vice President Jay D. Vance noted Moscow's flexibility in negotiations to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, Washington, in turn, conducts the negotiation process in good faith.

Prior to that, on August 20, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Putin was ready to hold talks with Zelensky if all issues requiring discussion at the highest level were well worked out. Lavrov recalled that the Ukrainian leader has not yet revoked the decree, which explicitly prohibits contact with the President of the Russian Federation.
