President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and his supporters are striving to make peace talks on the Ukrainian crisis impossible. This was announced on August 26 by Dmitry Polyansky, Acting Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations.

"So far, we are only faced with attempts by Zelensky and his supporters to undermine the spirit of Alaska and make any meaningful peace talks on the Ukrainian crisis absolutely impossible," he said during a speech to reporters.

The diplomat also stressed that security guarantees should be provided not only to Kiev, but also to Moscow.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on August 24 that Russia hopes that Western attempts to interfere with the Ukrainian settlement process will not be successful. According to him, Western countries are trying to disrupt the process that Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump laid down during a meeting in Alaska.
