- Iran named a condition for resuming negotiations with the United States on the nuclear program
Iran is ready to resume indirect negotiations with the United States on its nuclear program if it receives guarantees that the attack on the country by the United States and Israel will not happen again. This was announced on August 26 by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
"We are ready to conduct indirect negotiations with the United States if the Americans assure us that they will not launch any military actions during these negotiations," Araqchi was quoted as saying by the ISNA news agency.
The Iranian Foreign minister added that Tehran must be confident that the negotiations will be fair and just. According to Araqchi, the dialogue should meet the interests of both sides and be based on mutual benefit.
Bloomberg reported on July 30 that the United States imposed the most extensive sanctions against Iran in seven years. These measures were taken a week after the European Union (EU) imposed sanctions against Shamkhani and several of his companies.
On August 13, France, Great Britain and Germany expressed their readiness to re-impose sanctions against Iran if the Islamic Republic does not resume negotiations with the international community on its nuclear doctrine.
