US Navy fighter-bomber crashed in Virginia

The F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter-bomber crashed off the coast of the US state of Virginia, the pilot ejected. This was reported on August 20 by CBS News TV channel, citing officials.

"The pilot of the 83rd Fighter Attack Squadron ejected from a Super Hornet aircraft during a routine training flight," the article said.

Rescuers were sent to the scene, and the pilot was hospitalized. The plane remains in the water at the crash site. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and an investigation has already begun.

The 83rd Strike Fighter Squadron is based at Ocean Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach. This is the sixth F-18 lost by the US Navy in the last 10 months.

On July 31, a U.S. Navy F-35 fighter jet crashed near Lemoore Naval Air Station in central California. It was clarified that the pilot successfully ejected and is safe. None of the base personnel was injured. The cause of the crash is currently being determined.
