Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with the head of the Republic of South Africa (RSA) Cyril Ramaphosa. This was announced on August 18 by the Kremlin's press service.
Putin told his colleague about the main results of the Russian-American high-level talks that took place in Alaska. Ramaphosa, in turn, supported the ongoing diplomatic steps aimed at a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
The interlocutors also confirmed their intention to develop a comprehensive strategic partnership and continue close cooperation between Russia and South Africa on international platforms.
On the same day, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after a telephone conversation with Putin, said that his country has consistently called for a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian crisis and supports all efforts in this direction. In addition, he added that he looks forward to continuing meetings with Putin in the coming days.
