Earlier this year, a serious nuclear incident occurred at the Faslane Naval Base in Scotland, which was classified as a "category A" incident. This was reported on August 14 by The Telegraph newspaper with reference to the British Ministry of Defense.

"The Category A event was held at HMNB Clyde, on Gare Loch, from January to April [2025]," the material says.

It is noted that "category A" events mean a real or high risk of radioactive release into the environment.

The incident was recorded at the HMNB Clyde base in Gare Loch. HMNB Clyde is home to all Royal Navy submarines, including Vanguard-class vessels armed with Trident missiles.

According to the publication, the discovery will provoke serious concerns about the maintenance of Trident nuclear submarines in Scotland and questions about the transparency of information on such events. It is clarified that this is not the first "category A" incident in Faslane — similar cases occurred in 2006, 2007 and 2023.

Earlier, on August 9, The Guardian newspaper reported on the release of radioactive water from the base in Coleport into the sea bay of Loch Long in Scotland. It was clarified that this was due to malfunctions in the maintenance of the water supply system at the base. This led to the release of tritium, which is used in nuclear warheads.
