Moscow is concerned about the US decision to rename artificial intelligence (AI) to "superintelligence." This was announced on October 12 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov.

"The persistent attempts of the American administration to substitute this formulation for the generally accepted and understandable terminology are causing concern. We see in this a departure from the principle of human-centricity, which implies maintaining human control over significant decisions," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to him, such actions by the United States are aimed at technological dominance and "winning the AI race." Alimov stressed that Russia adheres to the principles of the UN Charter, advocates "respect for sovereign equality" and opposes "technological colonialism," and is ready to cooperate on issues of "secure and trusted AI systems."

On September 30, US President Donald Trump signed a decree according to which the American authorities should use the term "superintelligence" instead of "artificial intelligence" in official documents and public communications. The document says that government terminology "should reflect the transformative nature of technology and the limitless prospects it creates for the American people," so the word "superintelligence" is more appropriate.

On October 4, Trump announced that special Superintelligence Forces would appear in the United States. According to him, the new structure will be designed to coordinate the efforts of the federal government to ensure the preservation of American leadership in the field of artificial intelligence.
