Annual quarantine introduced in the Krasnoyarsk Territory due to an outbreak of trichinosis

The Achinsk district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory was quarantined for a year, until October 9, 2027. The reason is the detection of trichinosis.

Quarantine is in effect on the territory of the epizootic outbreak itself, as well as within a radius of 3 km from it, writes KrasnoyarskMedia news agency, citing the decision of Elena Nesina, head of the Animal Health Supervision Department.

The import and export of susceptible animals, the export of feed and slaughter products, and hunting of susceptible animals are prohibited in this area. Various activities related to the accumulation and movement of animals are also prohibited.

The head of the Achinsk Veterinary Department should develop and approve an action plan as soon as possible to eliminate the outbreak of the disease and prevent the spread of the pathogen.

The meat of any caught game must be sent for examination in the laboratory of veterinary and sanitary expertise. Eating meat that has not undergone a trichinoscopy can be dangerous.

The agency clarifies that the annual quarantine is in effect on the territory of the Novokalaminsky forestry in the North Yenisei district. It was introduced after trichinosis was confirmed in the hunted game. This parasitic disease is transmitted to humans.
