"For the first time in the history of the Russian Navy, a detachment of ships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet under the command of Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Oleg Golubev, passed through the Shokalsky Strait, which separates the island of the October Revolution from the island of Bolshevik in the Severnaya Zemlya archipelago and entered the waters of the Kara Sea," the press service said.

On September 4, the press service of the Russian Navy reported that a planned special exercise was held in the mixed aviation corps of the Northern Fleet, dedicated to working out the types of naval aviation support for the Navy. The event was held in two stages and included a comprehensive elaboration of the main elements reflecting the specifics of special types of support. More than 15 aircraft, 16 pieces of special equipment and over 750 personnel were involved in the exercise.
