More than 50 people have contracted tick-borne encephalitis in Transbaikalia
Since the beginning of the season, 3.68 thousand cases of tick bites have been registered in the Trans-Baikal Territory. 52 people were diagnosed with encephalitis.
In total, more than 2.3 thousand ticks were received for research in the laboratory. According to the ChitaMedia news agency, 1.6% of the pests carried the encephalitis virus, and another 31.4% carried the causative agent of borreliosis. 4.5% of the ticks were carriers of monocytic ehrlichiosis and 18.5% of rickettsiosis.
Doctors have confirmed 62 cases of borreliosis and 52 cases of encephalitis. Two more patients are under observation with a preliminary diagnosis of borreliosis.
Experts stressed that due to the wet and cool weather, the activity of ticks remains at a high level.
A week earlier, Rospotrebnadzor announced the beginning of the second peak of tick activity in the country. Pests can remain active until stable frosts.
