Bloomberg reported on Iraq's attempts to increase OPEC+ oil production quotas

Iraq insists on a significant increase in the OPEC+ oil production quota. This was reported on September 9 by Bloomberg, citing sources.

While OPEC and its allies are analyzing the production capabilities of member countries to determine targets for 2027, Iraq insists on the need to proceed from a baseline of 6 million barrels per day, the material says.

Baghdad has repeatedly called for higher quotas. Earlier in June, Iraqi officials hinted that the country could withdraw from the organization if it was not provided with a sufficiently high basic level. At the same time, on September 8, Iraqi Oil Minister Bassem Mohammed Khudair stressed that the country continues to comply with the established OPEC+ quota and is not going to exceed it.

The organization is losing its former influence on quotes, and China is becoming one of the main market balancers.

The Reuters news agency reported on August 25 that Baghdad may terminate its membership in OPEC if it does not raise Iraq's oil production quota. At the same time, it was noted that Baghdad's current plan is to remain an OPEC member and seek an increase in the oil quota.
