Composer Antonov will reveal exclusive details of his super hits on MUZ-TV

On Saturday, September 12, a new release of the Hit Stories musical project will be released on MUZ-TV. The hero of the program will be People's Artist of Russia, composer Yuri Antonov, who will reveal unknown details of his super hits. This was announced on September 8 by the press service of the MUZ-TV channel.

The artist's first great success was the composition "There is no one more beautiful than you", which he wrote while working in the Singing Guitars ensemble. Together with the band, Antonov toured the Soviet Union a lot, and it was during one of his trips that he had the melody of a future hit, which soon became known throughout the country.

"It was written when we were on tour from St. Petersburg to Chisinau. I was sitting in the compartment, mumbling something, and immediately wrote it down on a sheet of music," he said.

The lyrics of the song "There is no one more beautiful than you" were born no less romantically. Antonov's lover at that time was Irina Bezladnova, an employee of Lenkontsert. The girl became the author of the first two verses of the future hit.

"She was a very pretty girl. I was young, handsome, and energetic. She says: "Here, I'm giving you a piece of paper." The text was printed there," Antonov added.

However, after an unexpected scandal, Antonov decided to leave the ensemble. As a result, the future hit became his parting gift to "Singing Guitars".

"I gave [musician] Zhenya Bronevitsky the written notes and sang the song," the artist noted.

Bronevitsky said that Antonov invited him to perform the composition, after which the musical treatment was prepared and rehearsals began.

Many fans believed that the song was dedicated to the artist's lover, but Yuri Antonov himself refutes this version.

"The misconception is huge, both for you and for others. I didn't dedicate anything to anyone. I was writing and working, you know? It's all ridiculous. Who should I dedicate it to? What? It's a job. They gave me a poem, and I made a song," Antonov said.

When "There is no one more beautiful than you" suddenly thundered throughout the country, poets immediately swirled around the composer. One day Boris Dubrovin ran up to Yuri Mikhailovich in a cafe and handed him a piece of paper with a poem.

"I put it in a folder, came home, put it in a music book and forgot. It's been nine years. I'm flipping through — the leaf has already turned yellow. I see — my mother is dear! How did I do that? And I felt guilty," the composer emphasized.

The yellow sheet with the text seemed to Yuri Mikhailovich to be an application for a hit. A few days later, he wrote a melody to these verses, and the song "From Sorrow to Joy" was born.

Antonov's inspiration always came at the most unexpected moment, and the most important thing was to have time to record the melody. That's what happened with the song "Don't Tell Me Goodbye."

"I already had the music ready. I recorded this song on a tape recorder, called Misha and said, "Misha, I have this song. Do you want to write poetry?", he says, "Yes, yes," the artist added.

It was not easy for the poet Mikhail Ryabinin to find those very words: it was only on the fifth attempt that he finally composed the lines that the demanding maestro liked.

The artist decided to make one of his first video clips for this song, and fate brought Antonov together with a young director from England, Robert Crombie.

According to the video's editor Dmitry Menyalin, filming took place at the VGIK educational film studio. A large number of resources were used for the project, including the purchase of television equipment from the USA.
