The average spending of Russians on a bouquet of flowers by the beginning of the school year will amount to 4.4–4.5 thousand rubles, while maintaining the current price dynamics. This is 9% higher than a year earlier, the OFD Platform company told Izvestia.

According to analysts, from August 20 to August 27, the median receipt for the purchase of a bouquet in Russia reached 4.3 thousand rubles. The number of such purchases increased by 3% year on year. When buying online, the bouquet cost more — an average of 5.5 thousand rubles, which is 12% higher than last year's level. The number of online orders increased by 12%.

The most noticeable increase among popular flowers was the average receipt for bouquets of chrysanthemums — by 15%, to 4.2 thousand rubles. Roses rose in price by 13%, to 5.7 thousand rubles, gerberas — by 12%, to 3.8 thousand rubles. Bouquets with gladioli have become more expensive by 10% and cost an average of 2.9 thousand rubles, with eustomes — by 9%, up to 6 thousand rubles.

At the same time, the demand for flowers continues to grow. Sales of bouquets from eustoma increased by 6%, roses — by 4%, gerberas — by 3%. The number of purchases of chrysanthemums and gladioli increased by 2% each.

Customers are also more likely to purchase personal additions to school greetings. The number of purchases of boxes of chocolates increased by 6%, and the median receipt reached 576 rubles, an increase of 10% over the year. At the same time, the demand for balloons decreased by 4%, while their cost increased by 9%, to 476 rubles.

"This year, the demand for flowers for school is slightly higher against the background of a more restrained increase in the price tag compared to the same growth dynamics last year. As in the previous season, there is less attention to decorating with balloons this year. There is more demand for personal gifts such as a box of chocolates," the experts noted.

The increase in the cost of flower bouquets outstrips the rise in the price of the minimum school enrollment: in August, it increased by 7% year-on-year. Nevertheless, parents do not skimp on flowers, analysts emphasized. The company also noted that Russians are increasingly buying flowers in advance, including through parents' initiative groups. This is facilitated by the development of online ordering services and the habit of centralized purchases of gifts for teachers.

A study by the <url> educational platform and the Golden Apple beauty retailer on August 28 showed that teachers are more likely to receive flowers and sweets as gifts than they would like. At the same time, for most teachers, the most important thing is not the cost of the gift, but the attention and gratitude from the students.
