The number of accident-free drivers has increased in Russia
The share of car owners who have not caused an accident for 10 years and have the maximum discount for trouble-free driving has increased in Russia over the past year. This was announced on August 25 by the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA).
Thus, the average share of drivers with the minimum value of the bonus-malus coefficient (KBM) in Russia for the period from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026 was 43.4%, an increase of 5 percentage points (percentage points) compared to the same period last year.
The largest share of car owners who have the maximum discount for trouble-free driving during this period was recorded in Moscow (52.9%). St. Petersburg is in second place in terms of the share of drivers with a minimum BMD value (51.5%). The Perm Region and the Ryazan Region are next in the ranking (50.2% in both regions), as well as the Moscow Region (49.4%).
Growth was also noted in the top five: in Moscow, the share of accident-free drivers increased by 1.6 percentage points over the shifted calendar year, in St. Petersburg — by 2.5 percentage points, and in the Perm Territory — by 3.3 percentage points. In the Ryazan and Moscow regions, an increase was recorded by 5.5 percentage points and 2.8 percentage points, respectively.
The republics of Dagestan (11.8%), Ingushetia (15.5%), Tuva (18.9%) and Chechnya (20.3%) have the smallest share of car owners with the maximum discount for trouble-free driving.
Earlier, on August 19, it became known that drivers with a good insurance history pay on average almost three times less for CTP than motorists with an increased bonus-malus coefficient (KBM). So, in July 2026, the average cost of the policy for accident—free drivers (with KBM 1 and below) was 6838 rubles, and for emergency drivers (with KBM 1.17 and above) - 19.59 thousand rubles, which is more expensive by 186%.
