CTP for emergency drivers turned out to be three times more expensive
Drivers with a good insurance history, on average, pay almost three times less for CTP than motorists with an increased bonus-malus coefficient (KBM). Experts from the financial marketplace "Compare" told Izvestia about this on August 18.
So, in July 2026, the average cost of the policy for accident—free drivers (with KBM 1 and below) was 6838 rubles, and for emergency drivers (with KBM 1.17 and above) - 19.59 thousand rubles, which is more expensive by 186%. According to experts, over the past year, the average cost of CTP for accident-free drivers has increased by 28%, while more than 30% of drivers have the maximum discount on CBM.
"The longer a driver goes without accidents, the lower his BMD becomes and, consequently, the cost of insurance. Therefore, careful driving is not only a matter of safety on the road, but also a real opportunity to reduce car costs," said Vladislav Golovkin, Director of Insurance Business Development at Compare.
The cost of the policy varies significantly depending on the region. Among the regions with the lowest average CTP price in July of this year, the Trans—Baikal Territory is in the lead - 4,807 rubles. The Pskov Region came in second place (4871 rubles), and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug came in third (4892 rubles). The top 10 regions with the lowest average cost of CTP also included the Orel, Kaliningrad, Bryansk and Belgorod regions, the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and the Tambov Region (from 5.2 thousand to 5.5 thousand rubles).
Experts also noted that the most noticeable decrease in the average CTP price is observed in the first years of driving experience. For drivers with three years of experience, the policy costs an average of 10.2 thousand rubles, and for drivers with five years of experience — 8684 rubles. On average, drivers aged 63 with 34 years of experience receive the cheapest policy — 5233 rubles. Also, the categories of motorists with the most affordable CTP include citizens aged 49 years with 25 years of experience — 5810 rubles.
Earlier, on August 14, the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA) announced that the level of CTP payments, including business expenses, is equal to or exceeds 100% in 43 of 89 regions of Russia. When the amount of payments exceeds the premiums collected, insurance becomes unprofitable, which may lead to an increase in the average premium.
