Former husband of blogger Valeria Chekalina (Lerchek) Artyom, who was convicted in the case of the withdrawal of funds to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on forged documents, plans to visit the temple on the territory of SIZO-2 "Butyrka". This was announced on August 3 by Ilya Vysotsky, chairman of the Moscow Public Information Committee, in an interview with Izvestia.
"He feels fine, there are no questions to the isolation ward. Chekalin has a cell for four people. Chekalin has two cellmates who were convicted just like him, for the first time and on economic charges. The cell has a TV and a refrigerator. Chekalin visits the gym. Chekalin's main request to the members of the ONK was a desire to go to the temple," Vysotsky said.
According to him, the blogger is provided with a date with his relatives, and Chekalin himself is worried about the children and his ex-wife.
On April 13, Chekalin was sentenced to seven years in a penal colony. In addition, he will have to pay a fine of 194 million rubles. At the same time, the defense announced its intention to appeal the verdict against Chekalin. Later, the defense released a video message recorded by Chekalin before the trial, in which he stated that he considers himself innocent.
The criminal case against Chekalina was resumed on July 24. The first hearing was held on the 30th of the same month. The debate of the parties took place on July 31. On the same day, she was sentenced to five years of probation and fined 765 million rubles.
