Lada Niva Travel turned out to be the most popular four-wheel drive car in Russia

The Lada Niva Travel SUV became the best-selling four-wheel drive car in Russia in the first half of 2026, with a total of 21.4 thousand such vehicles sold during this period. This was reported on July 31 by the analytical agency Autostat.

The second most popular car was the classic Niva— with the Niva Legend SUV selling 16.1 thousand copies. The Haval Jolion (14.4 thousand units), which took the third place in the overall standings, turned out to be the bestseller among foreign cars.

The Geely Monjaro crossover, which was the leader of a similar rating in 2025, this time became only the fourth (13.8 thousand units) and only slightly ahead of the Tenet T7 (13.6 thousand units).

The top ten most popular passenger cars with all–wheel drive in January - June also included Voyah Free (6180 units), Haval F7 (5876 units), Toyota RAV4 (5609 units), Toyota Highlander (5436 units) and Tenet T8 (5325 units).

In total, 260.4 thousand new passenger cars with all-wheel drive were sold in Russia in the first six months of 2026. They occupied 42.8% of the total volume of the Russian car market, which is a historical record, analysts said. Previously, the largest share of sales of four—wheel drive passenger cars was recorded in 2025 - 39.5%.

Production of the all-wheel drive version of the Jeland J6 full-cycle crossover started at the AGR holding plant in St. Petersburg on July 28. The car is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo engine (150 hp; 275 Nm) paired with a seven-speed preselective robotic transmission with two wet clutches. The all-wheel drive system provides six driving modes.
