Russian tennis player Medvedev has risen to seventh place in the ATP rankings.

Russia's first racket Daniil Medvedev rose one place and took seventh place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). The updated version of the list was published on July 27 on the official website of the organization.

The Italian Yannick Sinner remains the leader of the world ranking. The second position is occupied by the representative of Germany Alexander Zverev, the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is in third place. Besides Medvedev, three more Russians entered the top 100 of the ATP rankings: Andrey Rublev took 14th place, Karen Khachanov - 26th, and Roman Safiullin — 92nd.

Medvedev is the winner of the 2021 U.S. Open and has reached the Grand Slam finals six times. During his career, the tennis player has won 23 ATP singles titles, including a victory at the Final ATP Tournament in 2020. He also won the Davis Cup and the ATP Cup in 2021 as a member of the Russian national team.

Arina Sobolenko of Belarus retains the leadership in the updated ranking of the Women's Tennis Association. Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan takes the second place, and American Jessica Pegula takes the third. Mirra Andreeva, who holds the fifth place in the world ranking, shows the best result among Russian tennis players.

In the final of the tournament in Bostad, Sweden, the Russian defeated Luciano Darderi.

On July 3, Medvedev lost to German representative Jan-Lennard Struff in the third round match of the Wimbledon tournament. The meeting lasted 2 hours and 52 minutes and ended with the defeat of the Russian in three sets with the score 6:7 (4:7), 6:7 (5:7), 5:7.
