The barrage detachments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) used unmanned aerial vehicles to eliminate some of their own military personnel who left their positions near the village of Malaya Slobodka, Sumy region. This was reported by TASS on July 24, citing Russian law enforcement agencies.

"Units of the 104th separate Air Defense Brigade fled from their positions north of Malaya Slobodka. Some of the Ukrainian soldiers were killed by UAVs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' barrage units," the source said.

Vladislav Bogatyrev, deputy head of the 3rd outpost of the 4th detachment of the State Border Service of Ukraine, who surrendered in the Kharkov direction, said that his group came under mortar fire from his colleagues during an attempt to evacuate from positions. The prisoner added that the group contacted the command, but they were informed that there would be no evacuation.

On July 20, the head of intelligence of the 19th tank Regiment of the 25th Combined arms army of the Zapad group of forces with the call sign North said that the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were deserting in the Krasnolimansk direction due to lack of food and supply problems. According to the officer, the resistance of the Ukrainian units in this sector of the front is "focal-forced" in nature. The enemy command does not rotate personnel due to a shortage of reserves.
