Cynologist-zoopsychologist of the network of veterinary hospitals Polina Parfentieva in an interview with aif.ru On Thursday, July 23, she told me whether to be afraid of dogs that look good-natured.

The expert noted that dividing dogs into "dangerous" and "safe" only by breed or appearance is a big mistake. According to her, caution should be observed with any animal, regardless of its size or appearance. Most often, aggression becomes a reaction to violating personal boundaries, so even Labradors or golden retrievers can bite if they feel uncomfortable and a person does not recognize their signals.

Parfentieva explained that, for example, the Akita Inu is an independent breed with pronounced protective qualities that does not like familiarity and invasion of personal space, especially from strangers. She suggested that the reason for the attack of such a dog might not be the breed features, but the fact that a person approached someone else's dog and began stroking it without permission. At the same time, the expert emphasized, it is impossible to draw conclusions about all representatives of the breed in one case.

According to the zoopsychologist, for a dog of any breed, a stranger remains a stranger, so not all animals calmly react to attempts to touch them without permission. At the same time, the responsibility for the pet's behavior always lies with the owner: he must socialize the dog, follow the rules of walking, use a leash, and for large breeds — a muzzle. If the animal has behavioral problems, the expert recommended contacting a zoopsychologist to correct them.

The day before, on July 22, a criminal case was opened into an attack by an Akita Inu dog on a seven-year-old boy who was playing at the gate of his house in the village of Dubtsy, Moscow region. It is known that the animal was without a muzzle, the Moscow City News agency reports. The dog attacked the boy, causing him a bitten head wound. At the time of the dog's attack on the child, the owner was inactive. The chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to submit a report on the investigation of the criminal case, RT clarifies.

The child is currently in the hospital, the website writes kp.ru . He is scared and refuses to eat, afraid of strangers. In addition to physical injuries, the boy is experiencing severe psychological shock, and there is no question of discharge yet, RIAMO notes. At the end of the treatment, the child will be sent for a forensic medical examination to determine the severity of the harm caused. 360.ru .

It later turned out that the victim was the grandson of the Russian writer Daria Dontsova named Sasha. On July 22, she told Izvestia that the animal belonged to one of the neighbors, 75-year-old Alexei, and had repeatedly attacked residents of the village. According to the wounded man's grandmother, people have already written statements to the police, but no action has been taken against the man.
