An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred south of the Japanese island of Kyushu. This was reported on July 17 on the website of the National Meteorological Administration of Japan.

The epicenter of the tremors was located in the sea east of Tanegashima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture. The source was located at a depth of 40 km.

There was no information about casualties or damage. No tsunami threat has been announced.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported on July 9 that a magnitude 5.5 earthquake was recorded in the west of the Czech Republic. The seismic event was located at a depth of 10 km. The epicenter was located 14 km west of the city of Pribram, which has a population of about 35.2 thousand people.
