Axios announced the 61st senator's support for the bill on sanctions against the Russian Federation

A bipartisan initiative to adopt an updated package of sanctions against Russia, proposed by the late Senator Lindsey Graham (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation), has received the support of more than 60 members of the U.S. Senate. This was reported on July 16 by the Axios portal, citing a source.

"Currently, there are at least 61 co—authors, of whom 39 are Republicans and 22 are Democrats," the publication says.

It is clarified that the support of the bill from more than 60 senators makes it possible to overcome the procedure for blocking consideration of the initiative in the Senate. However, the document has yet to be approved by the House of Representatives.

According to the portal, the updated document proposes to apply 100% secondary duties to countries that continue to cooperate with Russia in the energy sector. The measures may affect such large buyers of Russian resources as China and India.
