- The expert named the reasons for the growing distrust between companies and candidates.
The use of artificial intelligence in job search has changed the labor market, but at the same time has increased distrust between employers and candidates. Applicants began to face doubts about the reliability of their resumes more often, and employees began to face inconsistencies in the promises of companies with real conditions. Oksana Semenova, director of Financial Institutions projects at Cornerstone and career consultant, told Izvestia about this on July 19.
According to the expert, one of the main reasons for the crisis of trust was the spread of generative AI. According to an internal assessment by Cornerstone consultants, more than 60% of resumes applying for jobs in 2026 show signs of using neural networks.
Semenova noted that candidates often use AI not only to improve their resume structure, but also to strengthen their own competencies. In a highly competitive environment, some applicants begin to embellish their experience, add missing skills, or exaggerate achievements.
However, such inconsistencies may come to light already during an interview, during a security check, or during a probation period. As a result, an attempt to increase the chances of getting a job can lead to a loss of the offer and a deterioration in professional reputation.
Another problem is that resumes created using neural networks become similar to each other. According to the expert, the standard formulations about "strategic thinking", "leadership qualities" and "systematic approach" cease to single out candidates if they do not have concrete results and real experience.
"The problem is not that candidates are using AI. The problem is that many people stop adding their own experience, numbers, and real achievements. As a result, the recruiter receives dozens of professionally written but practically indistinguishable resumes," explained Semenova.
The expert stressed that employers also have an impact on reducing trust. Companies often describe in vacancies an ideal corporate culture and extensive development opportunities that do not always correspond to real working conditions. This leads to employee frustration and increased distrust of new offers.
Semenova believes that a more honest approach on both sides will help fix the situation. It is important for candidates to show real skills and achievements, and for employers to openly talk about working conditions. According to the expert, today professional reputation is gradually becoming a more valuable asset than formal experience.
Alexander Yuzhalin, head of the legal practice at SuperJob, said on July 12 that an employee can get sick leave without being sick if they need to take care of a sick child. He noted that medical organizations most often issue a disability certificate (or sick leave) in case of injury or illness of the employee himself.
