CENTCOM announced the completion of a series of US strikes on Iran
The US armed forces have completed their morning series of targeted airstrikes against military installations in Iran. This was announced on July 15 by the Central Command (CENTCOM) of the country's armed forces.
"The US Central Command (CENTCOM) completed the morning series of strikes on Iran at 07:30 eastern time (14:30 Moscow time) on July 15," the US Department of Defense said on its page on the social network X (former. Twitter).
It is reported that the entire air operation, which began earlier in the day, was completed in a 90-minute wave. During this attack, the US military used precision-guided munitions to destroy Iranian coastal defense systems, as well as cruise missile storage and launch sites located on Bolshoy Tunb Island.
CENTCOM stressed that these strikes were carried out in order to further reduce Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
The Wall Street Journal newspaper reported on the same day that in the context of a new round of escalation of the Middle East conflict, both sides — the United States and Iran — have fewer options and time to achieve their goals and resolve the crisis itself. At the same time, it was noted that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, would prefer to resolve the conflict before the midterm elections in his homeland in November, as well as before oil prices reach a "painful level for Americans" again.
