The baptism of Rus had a key impact on the formation and development of the ancient Russian state, affecting almost all spheres of society. Nikita Pavlov, a religious scholar and researcher at the Federal Research Sociological Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told Izvestia about this.

"The Baptism of Rus is one of those historical events, the significance of which goes far beyond the actual church history. It affected public administration, law and international relations, becoming an important stage in the formation of the political system of the ancient Russian state," Pavlov emphasized.

According to him, the spread of Christianity was accompanied by profound cultural changes. Liturgical books and translations of Byzantine texts came to Russia, which contributed to the development of writing and education. The new faith had a significant impact on architecture and art, forming new artistic canons, as well as changing ideas about power and social structure.

"Equally important was the influence of Christianity on the institution of the family. Along with the new faith, new ideas about marriage, marital duties, kinship and parenting came to Russia. Many norms that were later perceived as traditional for Russian society were formed precisely under the influence of Christian culture," he noted.

The expert added that significant changes have taken place in the daily life of society. Over time, many of the previously existing rituals, holidays and ideas about the world received new content and became part of the Christian tradition, which contributed to the formation of a unified spiritual and cultural space.

"Thus, Christianity led to a large—scale transformation of society and formed a special model for the development of the ancient Russian state," concluded the religious scholar.
