A boat with five passengers capsized in Yakutia

On Thursday, July 9, a motorboat with five passengers capsized on the Aldan River in Yakutia. According to the Rescue Service of the Sakha Republic, the incident occurred about 25 km upstream from the village of Ugoyan. The passengers traveled on a motorboat of the Ob brand.

It is noted that one of those on board managed to reach the shore on his own. Four boats were involved in the search for the missing — two arrived from the village of Khatystyr and two more from Ugoyan.

On the morning of July 10, rescuers managed to find the bodies of two passengers of the vessel.

"At 12:36 p.m. (06:36 Moscow time), the bodies of two men were found by relatives at the bottom of the Aldan River near the village of Ugoyan. At 13:30 hours (07:30 Moscow time — Approx. The bodies were recovered from the water and identified," the Telegram channel of the Rescue Service of the Sakha Republic reported.

Two more people are still missing. An additional three-person rescue service crew was sent to the scene to conduct searches. The agency also reported that four divers were involved in the work.

Details of missing people after boat capsizing in Yakutia

Five men were returning to the village of Khatystyr after a feast. About 25 km upstream from the village of Ugoyan, the motorboat's engine stalled, after which the vessel began to fill with water and sink. Everyone on board left the boat and tried to swim to shore.

"A man born in 1992 was able to get ashore on his own. He saw that the others were also heading towards the shore, after which he lost consciousness. When he regained consciousness, he did not find the other four," the Telegram channel of the Rescue Service of the Sakha Republic reported.

The surviving man was able to get to the village of Khatystyr by passing transport, where he contacted the emergency services and testified to investigators.

A criminal case was opened after an emergency on the Aldan River

A criminal case has been opened in Yakutia after a motorboat capsized on the Aldan River, carrying four passengers and one driver. This was reported in the Eastern Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of inland waterway transport, which negligently resulted in the death of more than two persons.
