Archaeologists have launched an expedition in the footsteps of the Huns in the Kurgan region

An expedition to find traces of the Huns has begun in the Kurgan region. Archaeologists are working in the Shadrinsky district, on the territory of the archaeological site Ploskaya-1. Earlier, three bronze Hun cauldrons from the era of the Great Migration of Peoples were found there.

IA " <url>", referring to the press service of Kurgan State University (KSU), writes that experts should find out what the place where the boilers were found was used for. There could be a burial ground, a treasure trove, or a ritual sanctuary. In addition, the researchers want to find out who the vessels belonged to and for what rituals they were used.

The KSU said that these artifacts are an extremely rare find. Black diggers found them, then the boilers were seized by employees of the regional FSB during operational activities and handed over to scientists. Only a few dozen such vessels have been found in Eurasia.

Scientists are also exploring the area in search of other artifacts from the same period that can help restore the picture of the life of the Huns in the Trans-Urals.

Representatives of the Zodiac regional organization are also taking part in the excavations. The expedition, which is carried out within the framework of the "In the Footsteps of the Huns" project, is being implemented with the support of the regional government.

Earlier it was reported that in Moscow over the past 15 years, archaeologists have discovered more than 140 thousand artifacts. Among the finds are tools of ancient hunters and gatherers, remains of Slavic settlements, fragments of fortress walls, ancient pavements, various buildings and household items. According to experts, such artifacts allow us to better understand what people's lives were like in different historical eras. One of the most ancient finds were fragments of a ceramic vessel discovered in 2019. About 10 potsherds of dimpled-comb ceramics date back to the 4th millennium BC.
