Some circumstances increase the risk of allergies. Andrey Prodeus, MD, Professor, Scientific director of the Department of Immunology and Allergology of the NIKI of Childhood, Chief pediatric allergologist and immunologist of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, told about this on Wednesday, July 8.

"For example, prematurity and cesarean section over time more often lead to the development of allergies," he explained in an interview with Radio 1.

According to the specialist, the effect of cesarean section on the risk of allergies has already been confirmed. In this case, the child does not pass through the birth canal of the mother, so its microbiota is formed according to a different scenario. Because of this, the immune system starts differently, and the likelihood of allergies, including its transition to bronchial asthma, increases 2.5 times.

The doctor called breastfeeding another important factor.

"Immunity develops in the first months and years of life. Breast milk is not just nutrition. It helps the immune system to learn. If the body recognizes a possible allergen in time, it forms tolerance, that is, insensitivity. If this does not happen, an allergy develops," he added.

The doctor added that it is necessary to treat allergies not only at the moment of exacerbation. This is a systemic work, because the cells involved in the allergic reaction live a long time.

It is usually recommended to start treatment no earlier than five to six years. There are drugs, for example, against birch pollen, weeds, ragweed and other significant allergens. But there are no such solutions for food right now.

The house needs order, less dust, regular wet cleaning. It is useful to maintain normal air humidity. A vacuum cleaner or an air conditioner with a HEPA filter helps to alleviate the condition during the flowering season. It traps the smallest particles, including allergens," the doctor advised.

Earlier that day, Ksenia Ryabova, an employee of the Laboratory of Immunopathology at the Institute of Molecular Medicine at Sechenov University, an allergist and immunologist, said that the cause of allergies is a combination of genetic predisposition, contact with allergens, mucosal damage and immune system reactions, while environmental factors and nutrition also play an important role. Life.Ru .

Ryabova stressed that it is difficult to completely get rid of allergies, but it is possible to achieve long-term remission with the help of allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT). 360.ru . For example, vaccines against allergies to cats and dogs are currently being developed in the laboratory.

At the same time, Ekaterina Zelenkova, HR director of the Progress communication group, told the Moscow City News agency that if employees are allowed to hire a dog or cat, it is mandatory to provide a passport with up-to-date vaccinations and marks on parasite treatment, as well as zoning, since spaces are needed where entry with animals is strictly prohibited. to ensure the comfort of employees with allergies or fear of dogs.

In turn, gastroenterologist Ekaterina Kashukh, an expert doctor at the Hemotest laboratory, spoke about her frequent allergy to milk. She warned in an interview with RT that an allergy does not occur to raw milk, but to the proteins contained in it.
