Liksutov reported on the growth of passenger traffic in the Moscow metro

In the first six months of 2026, Moscow Metro passengers made more than 1.2 billion trips, which is 2% more than in the same period last year. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

Komsomolskaya station on the Koltsevaya and Sokolnicheskaya lines has become the most in-demand transfer hub, with an average of more than 131 thousand trips per day. This is followed by Kurskaya —Chkalovskaya (103 thousand), Paveletskaya and Belorusskaya Zamoskvoretskaya and Koltsevaya lines (98.5 thousand and 92.5 thousand trips per day, respectively).

Among the lines, Bolshaya Koltsovaya and Koltsovaya traditionally remain the most popular. Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya became the leader among radial branches, which is used by more than 820 thousand passengers daily. It is followed by the Zamoskvoretskaya line with more than 770 thousand trips per day and the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line with more than 740 thousand.

As Liksutov noted, passengers make more than 8 million trips on the subway every day. Despite the increase in passenger traffic, there are no overloaded subway crossings, passengers usually leave on the first train arriving. This was achieved thanks to the systemic transformation of the entire metro infrastructure, the deputy mayor explained. Since 2010, the number of stations has increased from 182 to 306 (including the MCC). In addition, the pace of rolling stock renewal has accelerated.: Today, new types of trains appear every 2-4 years, and the share of modern trains in the fleet has reached 80%.
