The main tradition of Peter and Paul Day, on July 12, is the end of Peter's Fast. Vladislav Beregovoy, head of the missionary department of the Pesochenskaya diocese, told Izvestia about this.

"The main tradition of this holiday is the completion of a rather long Peter's fast this year. On this day, you can relax and eat any dairy and meat products," Beregovoy emphasized.

Fr Vladislav considers the participation of believers in divine services to be an important part of the celebration. At the same time, he recalled that the day of worship in the Russian Orthodox Church begins on the evening before the holiday.

"It is in my church that the feast of Peter and Paul is a patronal feast. One of the three thrones of our cathedral was consecrated in honor of the memory of the first apostles. That is why we have a Divine Liturgy on this day, followed by a solemn prayer service and a procession. In other churches, there may simply be a Liturgy, perhaps with a prayer service, but without a procession," the priest explained.

If a person does not have the opportunity to come to the temple, the priest advised him to take time for spiritual reading.

"It will be great to read all the apostolic letters during the day. Well, God forbid, at least to master a few, because you can't read all 14 epistles of the Apostle Paul in a day, much less comprehend them. Therefore, read at least one epistle of the Apostle Peter, one epistle of the Apostle Paul, read a prayer to them," Father Vladislav recommended.

In conclusion, the priest called on the faithful on this day to do good and refrain from doing bad things.

"Try not to do any nasty things on this day, as well as on other days of the year. Hurry up to do good," he said.
