Kadyrov announced his forced participation in the elections of the head of Chechnya

On July 6, the current head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, following a conference of the regional branch of the United Russia party, announced that he was being forced to be re-elected to his current post.

"If you ask me, I would choose another candidate, because it's a big responsibility, I know how difficult this task is. <…>. I'm forced to go to the polls. I am sure that the people will support it. If the people support it, then I am ready to serve for the people," TASS quoted him as saying.

Kadyrov also added that the authorities of the republic under his leadership will not make global changes to the current policy. According to him, the government will continue the line it has started, which is well-established and works "like a good clock."

On February 16, the head of the Chechen Republic announced that he was ready to participate in the next regional gubernatorial elections, provided that Russian President Vladimir Putin supported him. Kadyrov also said that Magomed Daudov, Chairman of the Chechen government, had asked him to participate in the preliminary voting.
