Mikhalkov spoke about the strict restrictions on showing alcohol in films.
The strict restrictions in force in Russia on the mention and demonstration of drugs, smoking and alcohol in cinema do not contribute to the real fight against addiction. This was announced on July 4 by Nikita Mikhalkov, People's Artist of the RSFSR, artistic director of the Workshop 12 Theater.
According to the director, strict bans on showing such scenes often look inappropriate and do not solve the problem of their dissemination in society.
"It's not what you see that matters, it's what you leave with. Tell me how you can deal with drugs without showing them...> Cutting drugs or alcohol out of movies is stupid. Because it's not about what they show, it's about what the result is. If a person came out, got hurt, but didn't touch it, because he knows how it ends, that's another conversation," Mikhalkov said during a press conference, as quoted by TASS.
The director stressed that the policy of strict restrictions regarding the demonstration of bad habits on the screen is naive.
On June 14, Mikhalkov invited director Alexander Sokurov to address the issue of lifting the ban on some films not to him, but to the true leaders of the country. This is what he noted in response to Sokurov's letter, in which he asked Mikhalkov to help lift the ban on the distribution of a number of films in Russia.
