A pensioner drowned while trying to save his grandson on a wild beach in Ufa.
In Ufa, a 72-year-old man died trying to rescue his minor grandson from the Urshak River. This was reported on July 3 in the Main Directorate (GU) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Bashkortostan.
"In the village of Korolevo, the body of a 72-year-old man was recovered from the Urshak River by local residents. The tragedy took place in a place completely unsuited for swimming," the ministry said in a message on the Maks messenger.
According to preliminary information, the pensioner rushed into the water to help the child, but he could not get out himself. The minor was not injured.
Emergency services personnel are working at the scene. The circumstances of the incident are being established, operational and investigative measures are being carried out.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded that swimming in unequipped places is a serious danger. Such areas may have a muddy bottom, underwater obstacles, cold underwater currents and sudden changes in depth. In addition, there are no lifeguards on the wild beaches.
On July 2, a boat hit a minor boy in the Voronezh reservoir, as a result of which he died. The criminal case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of marine and inland waterway transport, resulting in the death of a person by negligence").
