The Moscow International Fashion Short Film Festival opens the collection of applications for participation

Applications for participation in the seventh World Fashion Shorts Short Film Festival will be accepted on July 3. It will be held on September 27 as part of the Moscow Fashion Week. Films selected by the expert council will be able to be broadcast at international festivals. The competition is being held for the third time. Applications for participation are accepted until August 1 on the event's website.

The running time of the film is from 1 to 5 minutes, the work should include a connection with the themes of fashion and cultural diversity, understanding fashion in the context of the city, culture, nature, the human body and relationships, the absence of standard formats such as shooting from the catwalks. Films created with the help of artificial intelligence are allowed. Anyone can apply.

The guests will enjoy an installation festival that combines fashion, film and video art. The program selects short films from around the world that create a picture of the diversity of cultures and expand ideas about fashion. The program is shown in the format of a one-day multimedia show as a special event of the Moscow Fashion Week. The first edition of World Fashion Shorts was held in 2023. In 2024, the festival announced an open competition for participation and formed an international expert council.

The goal of World Fashion Shorts is to develop the genre of fashion films in Russia, as well as to create opportunities for directors, designers and brands to meet. At the same time, the competition is expanding cooperation with other fashion film festivals, including through the mutual exchange of content. Films selected by the international expert council can be broadcast at international festivals: Cinettica International Fashion & Art Film Festival (USA), Manila International Fashion Film Festival (Philippines) and Buenos Aires International Fashion Film Festival (Argentina), Brazil Immersive Fashion Week (Brazil). Their curators are members of the expert council of the competition.

The organizer of the Moscow International Festival of Short Films about Fashion (World Fashion Shorts) is the Fashion Foundation with the support of the Moscow Government.

The project was first presented on November 30, 2023 in the multimedia hall of the Artplay design center as a special event of the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, arousing great interest not only from its guests and participants, but also from a wide, mostly young audience. The genre of short fashion films is actively developing in the world. The World Fashion Shorts collection includes videos from South Africa, the Americas, Central and Southeast Asia, Europe, Russia and Belarus. Together, they create a picture of a huge variety of cultures and expand ideas about fashion. The experimental multimedia format WFS highlights exactly this aspect of fashion films.
