Poland decided to dispose of the MiG-29 fighters promised by the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Polish authorities intend to dispose of the MiG-29 multipurpose supersonic fighters, which were intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) as part of an interstate technology agreement that Kiev does not want to comply with. This was announced on July 2 by the Internet portal Wirtualna Polska with reference to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.

"Since Ukraine does not comply with the agreement, Poland will not provide it with equipment that could be useful to Kiev at the front. <...> The aircraft will be gradually, one by one, decommissioned," the article says.

According to the broken agreement, Warsaw, in exchange for the MiG-29, was supposed to receive from Kiev the technology by which it manufactures its unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The deal, according to the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense, Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh, could have failed due to historical disagreements.

It is clarified that the Polish side did not plan to take into the air the fighters featured in the agreement due to their obsolescence and the impossibility of modernization.
